Well, I made it back to the island safely and had to get right back into the swing of things... it's been pretty crazy around here for the past couple of weeks!
Classes have been going pretty well so far, we have our first test of the semester coming up next week and we've already started dissecting in anatomy. We have a donkey and a sheep to dissect this semester, and we get to look at some other animals as well, but we've only done the donkey and sheep so far. The donkey was a pain at first, because we walked into lab and they just had twenty donkeys laying on the ground whole. So, we had to move the whole donkey back and forth from the refrigerator and clean the floor after everyone had put their donkey away. Now we took out all of the abdominal organs, so it's easier. Pretty exciting stuff...
We've only been to the beach once so far, which is a little saddening to me... but last weekend we went to Cockleshell beach and i got to snorkle for awhile while we were there, which was a lot of fun. There were hundreds of star fish and lots of little fish. I even saw a lobster! But, after we got back that day i had a really bad fever and was pretty sick for the next couple of days. I basically made a nest out of our couch and lived there all of last sunday... but i'm feeling better now, which is good because i have a lot of work to catch up on...
I'm TAing Histology this semester. It's a lot of work and a little scary because i have to give a lecture for about an hour once a week to the first semester class. But it should be well worth all of the work, it's a good experience... and i really like the material, so that makes it easier...
We're also playing flag football again this semester. We had an olympics last weekend and our semester's team won the first game we played, but lost the next. It was really exciting... unfortunately our semester didn't do as well in the other sports (volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and soccer) so we didn't win the olympics... and at the game one of our best players broke his collar bone so he won't be playing anymore this season... which is bad news for our team.
The apartment that we have is really nice and i'm really enjoying living off campus. My roomates and I get along really well and so far there are no problems... we're just still trying to work out where we go running in the mornings. It's hard to go early enough so that we have enough time to get ready for class, but no so early that it's too dark to feel safe... this week we drove onto campus on days that we needed to go before the sun rose. It's working out pretty well...
other than that, not much going on... more next week :)
